I have a 93 corvette and my end link bushing were shot so i bought a set of energy suspension poly bushings. The problem is i cant fit them in the holes where the rubber bushings were. Any ideas?
Rubber mallet what you can into the ring then use a bench vice. You can get tons of torque from a bench vice and it makes it easier. I have heard of some people rubbing the ring and the bushing with a simple oil to help it along. I've also heard of people using Crisco, but that seems a little........ strange.
I lube the bushing edge and the link with the supplied lube. Take a 13/16 12 point socket with 1/2 in drive, put a 3 1/2 or 4 inch 3/8 bolt along with a flat washer through the socket coming from the drive side so the socket will let the bushing go into it a you draw it through. Take another flat washer and a 3/8 nut, once you get everything snugged up, square the bushing against the link then just tighten the nut the bushing will go right through nice & straight. I tried a vice and a c clamp and the bushing kept wanting to squirm off to one side when tightening, this way it will go straight through. Do the sway bar the same way coming from the inner side with the bolt & socket, you may have to pull the sway bar away from the chassis so the bolt will go in with the socket but not a big deal. One thing I forgot, remove the metal sleeves from the old bushings, they are not needed.
ya that metal sleeve is a PITA! i used a small hacksaw blade and cut a staight line down it. once you go through the sleeve, its easy to bang out. did the same for the sleeves on my batwing
well i got them. i used a hacksaw and a hand held impackt end that is cone shaped to get the lower one out that one was hard. the upper one was easy to get out. and the upper bushing was easy to install also. Thanks everybody.
