Mechanic seems to thing the timing is off in the new opti. We have fuel pressure and spark indicating signaling from the opti thru the harness. He has ordered another Optispark (AC/Delco) but I think we should try the new wiring harness before we give up on the new optispark.
We are up and running. It appears the new AC/Delco opti was DOA, installed a fresh one and she fired right up. All that's left is to see how long this one lasts. Only time and miles will tell. I'm hoping for more than the 6-9K I got out of my last two MSD Pro-Billets. My original AC/Delco ran for 105k.
The MSD looks clean as a whistle. E-mailed MSD on their support site last week, haven't heard back.
Id like to see this dead distributor for myself, but im about far away and got no means to test it. So i guess we will simply have to take your mechanic's word for it.

Watched him put it on and the car was running when it went in. It only goes on the cam shaft one way, right?
Only cost me the weekend of driving it. $1100.00 total parts and labor. I just don't want to do that again... Hopefully this one will make it to my engine rebuild at 200k.
Haven't hear squat for MSD folks. Posted on there Feedback Forum and got spammed. What's up with that?

MSD's response, "just call in .....915-8575200 ext 1162 for a rma number next time." Really? I don't think I want to continue changing the distributor every 6-9K.
an easily overlooked...and delicate...item prone to corrossion (at least mine was) is the low voltage wiring harness that plugs into the opti; the opti design makes the terminals on the end of this harness darn near impossible to clean except for shooting with an aeresol electrical cleaner. But since the the foot long, four wire harness sells for as low as $25 ( I paid $37 for mine) brand new why even try ? This is one area where "repair by replacement" makes sense (p.s. don't go to the dealer...it had to be a misprint, but I was quoted $250 )
from invoice dated 2009: Corvette Central; distributor wiring harness, part # 274575; $37.95 ; since then I've seen them from automotive electrical supply houses for as low as $25 (probably where Corvette Central gets them)

Wow...I feel like i'm Over Informed. This problem really sucks. I have an MSD that I bought from a Forum member that has only 1,000 Mi on it.It ran great when he pulled it off.Now I'm kinda gun shy.Maybe I'll get an AC Delco and use the MSD cap??? Kinda lost confidence in all of them.
Got the new GM opti and checked the sensor. Found a Mitsibishi optical sensor. I hope that's a good sign. We'll see Friday what the MSD has to tell us, when we get to look inside.

I'm not sure the MSD cap will work on the AC/Delco opti? The MSD cap has an extra screw.

I would... MSD makes a great distributor. What year is your vette? Are you doing the work yourself? When I have the shop change mine I'm looking at 400.00 labor. It's about a 4 hour job. I don't know why I loose the distributor every 6-9k, at this point. We'll see how the AC/Delco does. Maybe someone else on the forum has had better mileage out of the MSD?

It's 95' I'm doing the work myself.Frankly I don't trust any of the
"Non-Savy" Vette shops in my area. It looks brand new. The guy I bought it from only used it less than 1,000 mi.It was a drag car weekender only. He sid it worked fine when He pulled it out.He went with the Bailey LTCC I believe.I see no reason why I shouldn't use it.
Did you change the Harness?
