Would like to know if anyone has any experience with the hp or avenger systems , pros cons ? I'm looking to run the steath ram with a twin turbo setup on a 383.Primary use street/strip.

 

Think about what you might need and want now, as well as were you may want to go.

The avenger setup are simple to set up. An easy way to get converted to a very basic EFI from nothing.

The cons are they are very limited and specific in purpose. Fuel only, no ignition, no Nitrous control, no boost control, speed sensor, very limited ignition input options, no torque converter lockup or transmission control, no generic I/O to drive addition accessories like additional fuel pumps, waste gates, A/C...

The lack of a real tuning interface helps make it seem simple to those that are scared of computers, but also limits your tuning abilities. Accel enrichment has few options, Warmup enrichment again little control, so how ever it works it works.

So if you just want a very simple way to get on a very basic fuel injection system, they have made it relatively simple.
I would not recommend the system for a twin turbo setup at all though. You will want much greater control of your tune and likely additional features like control waste gates, boost control, water injection, speed sensor.

Then some systems have things like AFR safety, turbo anti lag, multi-stage NOS...

Then make sure you look at the software that it uses. Almost all of the available systems have limited software. From very basic software that does what you need it to do, to just flat out dated or buggy stuff. Most people only buy so many systems, so if you get software that does what you need to do, without a lot of bugs, they will think that it meets expectation and not give it much more thought. However, good software can make you life far easier. It provides the lens into what your engine is doing and what it needs. Data logging long files, good data rates, easy good viewing... Heck the good ones will tune for you the same as the Holley (Actually long before).

Some things to consider about software:

• Make sure the software can data log the information you need. It may mean every field you can think of or running a data log during an entire 3 hour rally race.
• Check the user interface to be clean, simple to navigate and bug free. This is an area that commonly suffers and you see many cobbled together applications.
• Make sure the software identifies problems and offers guidance
• Make sure it runs on the computer you need it to run on.
• Make sure it easily lets you review and adjust your tune while the car isn't around.
• Is management of tune files easy?
• Can you easily compare changes to the tune and settings at different points in time?
• Compare the features of the software, whether it is dashboard display, data log capture and viewing, Auto tuning, diagnostics, etc.
• Auto tuning is not a check box. Very few work. Yet a good auto tune can tune better than any human can.
