You need the appropriate software package of course, and a special cable. There are software packages you can buy called Diacom,DataMaster, and others. I have Craig Moates free package and it seems to work great!.
You also need a special cable to connect your car to the laptop. Some software kits come with these, some don't. You can also make your own. I bought mine from the links available on Craig Moates website. Being able to see what your ECM is doing is great. Check out the PROM tuning section here and at Thirdgen.org for more info on these and other cool things you can do with your laptop. Good luck and have fun.
