wouldn't this style below be better though as posted above? I'm sure it's a custom one off deal though no?

Here's my sexy x pipe.

I would have thought that the B&B would have flowed better then the Magnaflow Caleb? Certainly looks like a better piece, but I am no exhaust guy.

Before coating. I can bet there aren't many others that flow as straight as this. We all know gases don't like turns.

Had a custom 3" exhaust made on my 396 a few years ago which includes interchangeable high flow cats and off-road pipes that bolt directly to the Hooker Headers. The exhaust also has an x-pipe. Kept the Power Effects tuneable modules out back which you can open and close which helps on noise. Also put in sound deadening material in the rear hatch under the carpet.

With the off-road pipes on pick up 10HP/15LBS of TQ throughout the whole curve. It is loud but close the modules when driving to track. With the cats on and the modules closed in the off season, the noise is not bad at all.

This whole set up was $800 as I remember. Looking at replacing the Hooker Headers with the stepped ARH 1 3/4 - 1 7/8.

Did you make this x-pipe yourself or where did you get it?

I'm no exhaust guy either Rick. I'll be prob doing just 3 inch true duals. no emissions or inspections here

Here is the inside of the B&B reasonator. What a difference from the x-pipe.

I am going on a whime in saying I am going to pick up some power, and its going to be louder!

I bought it from a forum member, and he didnt use it. I'd imagine you would have to buy one new from B&B or get lucky and buy a used one.

What do you think of that B&B reasonator. Looks like it flows well eh?

Rick put up that one pic you took of the inside of the B&B muffler tips beside a pic of the inside of the resonator.

It's a B&B x-pipe. You can buy a similar one from stainless works.

I could not believe how restrictive the reasonator looks inside. I dont want to get my hopes up to high but I am expecting gains in the 15-20 rwhp/rwtq dept. The car goes like stink now, and getting rid of that restriction will make her breath even better.

The only drawback of the x-pipe is that my neighbours wont like the exhaust mod, and I may have to wear ear plugs.

imo the mufflers are just as restricted. freeing up flow in the middle isnt going to help much if the mufflers still have just as much baffling. did you put it on yet?

The exhaust is the 3 inch dual Billy Boat system. The x-pipe is also 3 inch stainless steel. It looks purdy!!

Update:

Wasn't able to pull this off before storing the car for the beautiful Canadian winters.

I went to get it done, but was called away for work purposes.

Looks like spring now

Quick Reply: X-pipe.
