Default Best Sounding/Performing Exhaust

I am looking into upgrading the exhaust on the old 94'. What are your opinons on the best sounding, performing and priced exhaust system on the market. Looking for a real throaty sound but dont want too much, Just louder than factory. I heard a newer Mustang GT :smash: go by and I have to admit the 3" exhaust does sound pretty good.

Thanks
Jason

Just put on some KBD Targa 2 mufflers, sound pretty good but thought they would be louder. Guess I'll gut my cats next.

Power Effects, they are expensive but they sound great and the sound level is adjustable. They also weigh 10-15lbs less than stock.

Jason,

I have the Borla cat-back system on my 94 LT-1 and it is definitely more throaty than the original exhaust. It definitely boosted hp a little over the stock setup as well. I have heard some good things about some of the other aftermarket exhausts, but have no first hand knowledge other than the Borla. :flag

Hi. I had the Borla setup on my last Vette (XR1's I believe). I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Incredibly loud (too loud), poor build quality, not a very good fit, had a horrible drone in 6th gear at anything less than 2500 rpms, and the resonator always scrapped my driveway entrance:) No offense to you Denney, but I wasn't happy with the setup on my 94. My brother had the Borla as well and he went back to stock because of the noise/quality. Check out the B and B or the Corsa. Stay away from the SLP as well....pretty much the same thing as the Borla.

Jason

I would probably go Corsa myself. I dont have the cash for it right now but they sound good and I have heard the performance is good as well. If you wanna go the cheapest for the best sound with minimul or no performance gains go with elims. Best bark for the $ :seeya

Most anything you get will be louder than OEM and, with stock cats & resonator, shouldn't be too loud.

Scrop, you're gonna love the headers with those FlowMasters...it's tempting.

Sold my B&B next exhaust will be Corsa on an LT1. No resonance and good sound outside. The Borla, B&B, and Power Effects all have resonance problems. The Borla and Flowmaster LT1 catbacks are to quiet outside of the car IMHO. Corsa is also cheaper than the Borla, B&B, and Power Effects. So Corsa wins hands now next time. :yesnod:

Jason,

Definitely no offense taken by me.:D I didn't select the Borla system, it came on the car when I bought it in 98 (I got the stock system along with the car as well). I haven't had any of the problems that you speak of, but I have since heard that the Corsa system was the best choice for cat-back, were I were to do it all over again. I think the mellow growl of the Borla is fine for me (maybe it's because I have a mid-year with side exhaust and that has caused me to lose a great deal of my hearing such that EVERYTHING else sounds mellow to me:confused:). All in all, I have been relatively satisfied with the Borla's (mid 13's 1/4 mile at 105mph and that's with an auto and 2.5 series rear!)

You guys have been alot of help, Looks like a pretty hot topic.... Everyone wants there baby to sound the best. Is there any mufflers on the market that would do the trick instead of putting on an entire Cat Back can a guy just go with some nice mufflers that would open it up a little and make it sound better.

Thanks
Jason
