I was looking thru my service manual today and I noticed it said the Coolant was supposed to be Orange? I went out and checked and my coolant is green, just like all my cars have been for decades.
Hi rcolling! I am asking a similar ??? in my post. I believe that GM did shift over to the orange stuff in 96 but I can't be certain. You might want to ask a GM tech.
I have a 95 with the green stuff, and I believe I am going to stay with the green stuff. One post to my question stated that the 2 types of antifreeze are not compatible, and will turn to mush if combined. You can flush all day long and the green stuff is not going to all come out. :U

Re: Coolant? (rcolling)
96 clearly comes with DexCool from the factory, so somebody changed over. Some 95's came with DexCool, but unsure what lines (models) and/or production numbers.
I think you could switch back with a good flush, but not much point. Change interval goes back to 2 years once green in the system. Might as well stay green.
I have been told, not sure where, that once you have Dex cool in your system, you should always run it. The switch was made sometime in 95, I am not sure when. My car was made 11/95 and it has the green stuff.
Just checked my manual and it says the 96 models should use Dex Cool. Doesn't specifically mention the same for other years although I've been told I should use it in my 95.
