Since the Hurst Shifter does not have a lockout ring for reverse and is similar to the later stock shifters. If i were to install one on my 89 with the lock out ring. How is the shifter set-up to deter the ease from shifting in reverse?
The tranny in my car (93)will not let you in reverse unless you are under 5mph. You can feel the reverse gate through the stick. A detent, if you will. The only problem you may have is moving past the 5 gate into the top of reverse. Just alter your technique. I did this about 3 times. Now 5 is just as easy as the rest.
It takes some firm pressure on mine, to get into reverse. The tranny is out of the car, but it still takes some firmness to get it into reverse and not 6th. ***oooops, correction, that was before this got welded: I took the Hurst back out for the fix but haven't put it back in.
As far as price, I found Speed Demon motorsports and Summit tied for lowest at $129.00.
The shifts feel real nice and solid. Almost clunky, but in a good way.
