I have a 1987 Corvette, I just replaced the alternator bracket (broken), alternator, serpentine belt and battery. The car starts great no noises, but we had white smoke fill the interior of the car and coming from the radio area and under the dash."
I have statrted it twice and it has not happened again, but it's my wifes car and I fear her driving it.
We need to use more that just eyesight here. Does it smell like wiring burning or something hot or does it smell like antifreeze/coolant. Until I knew what it was I wouldn't drive it. I would think that any smoke from under the dash isn't good.
Smoke is basically something burning and I hope you are not driving your Vette like this. All of the above posts may be accurate and you need to get in there (upside down) and look for the source.

Any ideas?
Thanks for the replies all!
All systems are functional, just like nothing happened? Radio, window, ac and everything else??? No electical smell and no anti freeze smells. I've had numerous heater core issues in others car and know when this is an issue.
I'm stumped and why I'm asking others here who may have had a similar problem.
FYI we are not driving it this way :-), I am however starting it to try to see what may have occured as my wife was driving at the time and not me.
