Default Passive keyless entry problems

ok, so ive had the car for about 48hours, when i first picked it up it was giving us idling problems and the passive keyless entry light was flashing, the problem was there was a quick disconnect on the battery that was loose. we removed it completely and the car was fine. drove it 8 hours home no issues. Today all of the sudden the passive keyless entry light started flashing the deck lid poped and the doors started to lock and unlock. I removed the the battery from the key fob, still did it, tryed a differnt key, stil no luck.. battery voltage is between 13.9 and 14.9..

any ideas.?

thanks

I have a similar issue at times. My passive keyless entry light comes on, but goes out after awhile without have to disconnect the battery. No clue what the cause is.

Hmm, that sounds strange; I think my first suggestion would be to reprogram (details in owners manual) the car with your fob(s) and see what happens. It will be interesting to see if you can do the procedure all the way to the end.

My friend has a 1994 Corvette with PKE. When he drives through a Tim Horton's drive through the doors will sometimes lock and unlock. The theory is that these early systems used frequencies that are affected by other forms of todays technology.

This doesn't help you but it may point the direction to problems if you can't find a physical solution in the car.

...with all that activity, sounds like the PKE control module (underneath dash, center) may be going out.

It certainly sounds likely, but since reprogramming the fob(s) is free and might provide more info I think it would be a good first step.

Default Update on PKE problems

the car is stuck with the PKE light on, will not go into program mode. have tried reseting it by pulling fuse and battery, it comes on and stays on immediatly when car is in run position. so far i have replaced the ignition key, the PKE fob and the drivers door switch, both the key fob and the door switch were faulty. but the light remains on, I am now going to head in the direction of replacing the PKE next.

thanks for al lthe help

I'm afraid it sounds like the PKE unit; but just in case, you did check all of the fuses, right? (26,40 and 42)
