does anyone know the proper way to test both the coil and the mod i have the specs for the coil but have 4 points to mesure and says check primary first which one is primary which is secindary checking before installing new opti
The average person does not have the correct equipment to check a coil accurately. An ohm meter will never tell you whether it is good or bad. You need to check the "Q" of a coil and check for shorted turns. Most people don’t have that equipment.
If the coil is bad, it will not affect or damage opti. If you are worried about it, they under $20 so just change it. For testing purposes, you can just hang it in there with just the two connectors changed over. That way no mechanical work has to be done just to try it out.
A coil that was drawing to much current or had shorted turns would affect the life of the ICM first. Before I changed the ICM or coil, I would want to have some indication of a problem or some symptom something was not working or not right.
But just if you want to go for it, A (pnk/blk) and B (dk green) are the wires to check.
