87 RT Cooling Problem and Clicking Noises
My cooling fan stopped kicking on the other day and needless to say the car got rather warm. I shorted pins A&B which kicked the fan so I know the relay and fan are good which leads me to believe it is the temp sending unit but I have noticed a loud clicking sound coming from behind the stereo, I am positive it isn't my stereo. I have no idea what this is but it sounds like a relay trying to engage.
Does anyone know what might be making the clicking sound and could it be related to my cooling fan problem?
Thanks again,

Does your horn work ?

Coolant sensor should throw a code 14 or 15 if it's out of whack, and if that happened, the ECM would turn on the fan.

Thanks for schematic. The cooling fan didn't turn on temp went up to 260 and redbar was display but no engine code. I luckily was pulling in my garage when temp hit that hi.
As for the horn, no it hasn't worked in several years. That is one of those I will fix it later after I get everything else done kind of items. But since you mentioned it the clicking does sound like a "blinker" however they were not on and not sure if it matters but clicking continues for 1 - 2 minutes after car is shut off and key removed.
Also one other item which might mean some thing, the stereo is aftermarket but the factory stereo was removed back in 98 and the current one has been in place since 09.
Thanks again

You may have another issue to add to the list.
I have heard that sometimes you can get a clicking sound inside the dashboard if your battery is low or you have a bad connection to the battery. It's not clear to me exactly what causes this sound.
