New fuel pump in the 95'.Turn on key fuel pressure jumps to 47 Psi...after the 2 second cut off it drops to about 20 Psi...
Question:Is this bleed down rate acceptable? The FSM says "It drops a little". New Airtex Pump and new Regulator.Runs Great once started. I don't suspect a leaking Injector as it runs too good. I've heard that the Airtex pumps have some issues with the ball checks leaking down.?
Has anyone experienced this?
Sounds like an excessive drop to me -- I usually see a drop of 3-5psi after the pump stops running, then a more gradual bleed down over a much longer period of time.

That is way too fast. Should not get that low for at least 30 minutes or so. I would first check out the FPR. It could be leaking fuel back into the vacuum line. See if it is wet at all with fuel when you pull off the line. OR, take vacuum line off the FPR and pressurize system and see if it comes out.
If OK, then I would pinch off the return line at the tank area and pressurize line and see if it bleeds down fast. If it does not, the FPR is no good.
If OK, you have a problem in the tank with the check valve on the pump. (let's not hope so)
We changed the Regulator last night. I do think the Airtex Pump is defective. Gonna get a AC Delco Pump.Airtex has issues like this.I got it from Advance Auto.
..... How does the car run ? ... What is the pressure when running ? ... the standing ( not running ) fuel pressure is immaterial unless there are operational issues .............

I agree...runs great with 47 Psi at Idle.Starts right up.Wonder if will get worse..Should I change it now while still under warranty?
And yes, the leakdown is wayyy too fast. Your 2 second "prime" should hold that pressure for a couple hrs.
If AZ will exchange fine. The goal is to get a pump that holds pressure. If they won;t refund just keep changing pumps and gaskets until THEY cry.... Unless its a performance pump, the basic ability is adequate. The pumps are ALL damaged the same way...running with tank to low and running trash thru them.
Clean the tank out and use the new screen. Construct a "well" for the pump to live in so its never dry again and you'll be surprised at how long the dime store pump will last.
