was reassembling the block from putting in a new water pump and was trying to get battery voltage wire off... and started twisting the nut and the stud twisted with it.... twisted back in place and just left alternator alone during water pump install.
reassembled car, took it through emissions drove home.
took it out tonight and low battery voltage, stumbling now dead.
who makes a rebuildable alternator?
oreily's or autozone or checker? - are they all the same?

Pretty much all the same quality.
O'Reily's being the top pick from your list.
I would have your original alternator on your Corvette right now rebuilt for around $30 from local auto electrical repair shop.
You should have 1 nearby somewhere.

If your alternator was functioning correctly there is a good chance you can simply have the stud replaced. That would cost about $10. at our local auto electric shop.

Find a local Alternator shop. Its worth the price.
You'll be replacing parts continously when buying from AZ or the others.

Of course while at the shop they should test other components. They will have to crack open the case to replace the post anyway..
