Default Hood badge replacement

How does the hood badge attach - is it stuck down or by a through hood mounting? Mine is looking sad and I want a nice shiny new one so any advice is greatly welcome on removing the old and fitting the new.

It's held on with two speed nuts. There are two access holes on the inside of the hood. It would be alot easier if GM used threads/nuts instead of speed nuts. The emblem may also have foam tape on the back. Which you could use fishing line to help seperate it from the hood if it is stuck on.

WHen removing the nuts, use a dab of gorilla snot in your socket to prevent loosing the nut.

How 'bout the best way to remove those speed bolts? I've tried using a flexible extender but still cant get enough "oomph" or torque to get those old bolts loosened.....It almost seems like you have to remove the hood to properly get at them!

The two small speed nuts are 10mm. A deep socket helps along with a short extension (2" ) and a 1/4" drive ratchet. Put a dab of silicone caulk around the inside of the socket so the nuts won't fall off once you get them loose. Also helps when re-installing the emblem.
