true to that, looking back when i first got here 4 years ago one of my first threads
were about getting 500 hp out of my 87, at least 4 years later im "kinda" close
Here's a link with an in depth discussion of the article posted. Determining what rpm band you want to run in and the overall purpose of the car has a lot to do with which intake you choose. If you're leaning more towards quarter mile,, it's probably best to pick an ET opposed to a HP level - Long runner cars can typically run as fast or faster with a little less HP than a short runner car if you're not going to optimize the gearing and stall speed for the short runner intake. http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tp...feb-super.html
Look for 1989GTATransAm and Dyno Don on the ThirdGen. Both have over 400hp at the wheels with the TPI setup and pass smog. You can also find them at SoCalTPI.org. I don't think it cost them close to $10,000 either, but it will cost.

If you wind up the gears a little bit, you'll find there is a LOT of power out of the good old L-98. I just can't wait to get this ZZ4 properly tuned. I'm going to put stock injectors in it till then so I can actually go WOT without running rich...
Anyways, as many of us have said, there is a surprise near the end of the RPM range. I'm not going to promise a pot of gold and a leprechaun, but don't worry about power too much. They guys who are hitting 400 HP and they are generally running 383 CI. If you want to hit 500 you'll be looking at forced induction.
