Guys
93 Ruby Red - will not fire off
starting to suspect fuel pump - I turned the key to on and pushed in the fuel pressure connection (where your supposed to connect the fuel pressure gauge) with my finger and only got a tiny bit...if its supposed to be over 40Psi shouldn't it be shooting out of there??
Thanks
Use a pick or some other pointed tool...your finger is'nt going to push the pin far enough to do anything much. Little or nothing.
Yes, it should shower you with gasoline...so use caution.
If the pump is not running that does not mean the pump is bad. The pump relay can be faulty but the car will still run with the back-up switch. Just takes more crank time to lite the fire.
Start with the fuel preswsure gauge and check key ON and running pressure. The FSM describes how to jump the ALCL to energize the pump and test the relay.
Key ON.......2 seconds of pump run time to prime. No more pump run until key is off and 10+ seconds have passed, OR until the ECM gets reference pulses from the distributor indicating that the engine is running.
yep, should be squirting. listen for the FP to run for 2 secs each time key is on, no crank. it is fairly quiet so you may have to have a spare hand to turn the key while you listen at the tank.
if it is not on, check the fuse, of course. to test relay, you can put a test light to the fuse terminals while the key is turned on, if it lights relay is in the circuit.
