Default 92 six speed shifter problem

OK, I noticed the last time I was on the race track when I shifted my shifter moved up and down as well as into gear.

Took a look at it today and the "supoort bracket", part 43 on page 7B1-6 of the FSM (pictures attached) is broke between the mount on the shifter and transmission.

Anyone near Atlanta know where I can get a replacement by Thursday???

Give ZF Doc Bill Boudreau a call. If he has one in stock, he can probably get it to you by Thursday via FedEx.

http://www.zfdoc.com/

You might also want to see if yours can be repaired by a competent welder.

Live well,

I found one from a recycler reccomended by Corvette Recycling.

Don't want to get in trouble so I can't mention their name here.

The old part can't be welded that whole center "S" section is missing!
Kind of hard to see in the picture, but its gone.

And Bill's site is the greatest! I was able to use it to find the part numbers for the part.
In case anyone in the future finds this post the GM part number is 10140675

jaa1992.

This is great information. I have this issue too and its not related to c-beam bolts loosened up. I checked these and they are tight as can be (at or slightly beyond fsm torque spec).

How much movt does the shifter move up/down? Mine moves up about 1/4" up/down when pressing/ releasing the gas pedal in low gear. I cant really feel it, but I can see it if I look at it.

I was blaming this on my rod-end control arms and DRM relocated trailing arm brackets....because after this install was when I first noticed it.

I remember when my c-beam bolts loosened up after a clutch swap, the shifter movt was much greater. Maybe about an inch or so. In fact, I thought the rubber boot would tear. Anyways, I installed beam plates at that time.

I was thinking ozone cracked batwing bushings may be the culprit, but I will check into this.

BTW, I checked my motor mounts and they were fine.

Am I looking at your picture correctly and noticing the shifter support is not just cracked but fell off (completely missing)_?

Just a reminder since I am sure you just forgot about the 3rd post.
