Default Radio/speaker popping noise

Sometimes the radio works perfectly in my 1994. At times it starts to pop and radio goes out. I searched the older threads and it seems likely an amplifier relay. I dont see the location of this. Is it under the passenger side? Does Chevy carry this part or Bose?

The bose amp relay is in the storage compartment with the jack. I got mine from oreillys. My 96 has similar problems. The relay did not fix my issues. Time to check the wiring according to the FSM.

Default Relay

Did you find the problem in your wiring or still an issue?

I have not found it yet. The FSM has a diagnostic chart that I'm going to work through when I get a chance. It has been low on my list of priorities lately.

How long does the radio stay out for after the popping starts. If it stays out for a time, see if you can measure a voltage on one of the rear speakers on the orange wire (& black ground). If you have voltage there, then the Bose relay is OK, if not, then it's bad.

Also check to see when the sound stops if the antenna is up or down. Control signal from the receiver box activates both Bose relay and antenna relay.

Today I traced my problem to the ground behind the passenger side seat. It was grounded, but not very well. I had installed a liquid sound deadener a long time ago. It worked fine for a long while, then got spastic. I scraped off the coating, put it together and it works fine so far.

Its G402 in the photo posted above.

Good find. Will have to remember this for future use. If it happened once, it just may happen again.

Hello can you tell me if the Ground is about halfway down the passenger seat back and to remove the rug to get to it? Thank you
