What does DTC 42 mean needs to be checked/replaced on a 1990 Corvette?

Yes it starts. Where would the Ignition control circuit be located? That code is concerning my other 90 Vette I am parting out.

The ICM is in the distributor, underneath the rotor. Some autoparts stores like autozone can test them for you for free.

On my 86, 42 is Electronic Spark Timing code. It can be set if there is a problem with it, or you previously had the "set timing connector" unplugged and didn't clear the code after setting timing.
