Default Odd wiper problem

My wipers are intermittent , if the car is cold on 1st turn on , the wiper switch is dead , the car is a 95 with 30 000 miles. If I leave the car outside work and come backa few hrs later when the cabin is hot , the wipers work perfectly.
The stalk is a little loose but nothing serious
No amount of jiggling will get the wipers working if they are "dead" , even replaced the fuse (which was still good) etc..no joy.
Im not sure if the cabin heat is perhaps making a loose connection in the switch or somewhere else make contact as metal expands. Blinkers , headlight dip and cruise control all work perfectly.
I have a FSM on the way , but nothing here right now so cant really trace anything.
The LAST thing I wanna do is pull the steering wheel.
Any ideas of where to look for this fault apart from the stalk?

Hello,

Not sure how similar my 85 is to your 95, but I hope I fixed the same problem by gently cleaning the control board and contacts on the outside of the wiper motor. three scews hold the cover on and i think one is part of the ground. I found a post that suggests removing the board and cleaning the underside, but I didnt go that far. I used some electrical contact cleaner. Things seem to be ok again.
