If a C4 didn't come with a TPMS, can it be added by getting the sensors and doing something else to the ecm? Yeah I know somebody will say "Why would you want them anyway?" My other cars have them and it's nice to know if you lose pressure.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think the ECM is involved in TPMS. Could be -- see below.
You would need a TPMS receiver to pick up the signals from the sensors. You'd need a way to select the TPMS "mode" and display the pressures on the dash (or somewhere else). I think this would be in the programming of the instrument panel.
The part I don't know is if the TPMS receiver talks directly to the dashboard or goes through the ECM. It might be part of the ECM, but I doubt it. It's probably a separate module, but might be part of the instrument panel, since the display is there.
