Outbound one is shorter. Be sure to check the bolts when you install.
Summit is great, but they are big and a little stupid. Unless you have a ZR1 the MINI starters are pretty much the same. Four vertical holes in the Mounting block make it pretty darned universal.
They may have meant did you want "clocking". " Clocking " allows you to rotate the starter position into a number of different orientations.
The aluminum block that the starter bolts too on a mini will have about twelve holes in it, that allow the movement.
Oh yeah.... ... be sure to check the bolts lengths. I bought one and they had the wrong bolts. 1/4" too long [ with the shims in ].
Potentially disastrous if to short or too long.
The staggered bolt pattern refers to the bolting to the block. Earlier sbcs and bbcs with 168 tooth flywheels had a "staggered" bolt pattern on the starter. There were 3 holes drilled in the block, where the 153 tooth flywheels used the inline and the 168 tooth had the staggered.
