Wheel offset is confusing me. What fits?

Wheel offset is confusing me. What fits?
I have
84 front 38 offset 8.5 X 16 wheels and 86 rearend D-44 no wheels yet.
will this work?
with 56 offset 9.5 X 17 wheels front and 50 offset 11 X 17 wheels rear
are spacers needed to keep the wheels from hitting the suspention or what is the problem with more positive offset.
this is on a hotrod there is no problem with fener or body clearance.
why don't they make the 97-99 5 spoke in a 17 X 11

I have the 50mm 17 x 11 on my '95. No spacers and they fit fine.

The AFS web site explains the offsets pretty well. The early cars take a different offset than the later (87?).

84-87 have the 38mm offset and the later 88-96 has 56mm offset
this is to keep the wheel from hitting the inside of the well i believe, since you dont have that problem you can use what you want
