84 Windshield replacement question

84 Windshield replacement question
I need to replace the windshield in my 84 coupe for the 1st time. I've read several threads in this forum and they all say to replace the weatherstipping, but several say the moldings at the top and the doors can be reused and several say you must replace some or all of the moldings as well as the weatherstripping.
Since the 3 moldings cost about $300 (Ecklers) I'd rather not replace them unless it's necessary.
What is the consensus, do I need to replace them or can I reuse the current moldings? Explanations will be appreciated.
