That sounds about right for a stock 86 with an unmodified cooling system. :)

yes thats normal, so be sure to use Mobil 1 synthetic, as it can take the higher temps better

Re: (scorp508)
we rodded the radiator, put in a new water pump, and were using a 190 degree thermostat. and running the AC adds about ten degrees to the temperature.

Re: (1986corvetteman)
you need to run a 160 tstat, with a custom chip, your temps wont leave the 180-200 range

best bet, if you have major mods (cam, heads, intake) is
http://www.fastchip.com
otherwise, post again in the ECM section, and someone will burn you one for a lot less than Hypertech will charge you for the same thing. Talk to member Marcho Polo.

Re: (1986corvetteman)
You really don't need a custom chip to lower the temp.. All you gotta do is get yourself a 180 or 160 tstat and connect your main fan so it's on all the time.
I'm here in San Antonio and my car only goes into the 200-215 range when the ac is on. Otherwise it's in the 185-195 range.
hope this helps,
