I had a new CD radio installed in my 87 today. When I picked it up the headlights were off but still flipped up. When I tried to turn the headlights on the **** came off in my hand (Just the **** not the shaft) so I put it back on and carefully pulled the headlight switch out and back in a couple times but the headlight still didn't close. I tried manually cranking them closed about half way from under the hood and when I turned the headlights on they opened the rest of the way but still would not close. They said that they didn't take the instrument cluster bezel off but when I was driving it home I could see that it wasn't aligned with the gauges. I had a problem a couple years ago with one headlight not closing due to a blown fusible link behind the battery but since then they have worked flawlessly. Any ideas on what the problem could be ?

Reason: spelling
I never had any trouble with the **** itself and when it came off in my hand the clip was still on the shaft going into the headlight switch. Is it possible that they pulled on the headlight **** too hard and broke something inside the switch ? or could the have shorted something in the dash causing the module or the fusible links to fry ?
