I here a "whine" when the car is in park or neutral. The trans shifts fine. The "whine" may have been there for a while because now that it is getting colder the windows are up and its easily heard. I did have the trans rebuilt in August. Any ideas.......
Is the detent cable adjusted properly? I missed around with that adjustment on mine before and as I remember it made it wine some. Once I had it set correctly the wining stopped.
The pumps are all the same size. The difference is in the number of vanes. The early pumps had 7 vanes. In late '87 they went to 10 vanes and in the mid '90s they went to 13 vanes. Supposedly the higher vane count gives better pressure at high RPMs. They also claimed that the 13 vane pumps were quieter than the earlier ones.
