So I swapped a 86 4+3 into my 85 corvette because my transmission went up. When I went to connect my cable (I beleive its the TV cable) there is no place in the OD unit to do so. Then when I was connecting my wires to the trans I noticed I had no place to plug one of my plugs into the 4 speed part by the linkage. So I figured what the heck and started it up and no reverse and no gauges? Im stumped and have no idea what to do. Any info is much appricated
Need some more details....you swapped a 86 4+3 into an already existing 85 4+3 set up? are you talking just a swapped OD or both the 4 speed and OD? I have a 88 in my 85, no TV cable required, just junk it. If you have no reverse, the unit you just put in is likely bad. There is a clutch sprag or something in there that spins in the case that is not supposed to. As for the extra wires, these could go to the shift linkage switches that your previous 85 probably had one more than the 86, but some one on here will know for sure.
It has reverse. I put it in manually (I have a lift) and it moved back. My guess is I need to adjust my linkage. I solved my problem with the extra plug. I just swapped the side plates on the transmissions. I just cant put it in reverse (reverse lock out) from my car. My last question is still my cluster.
