Default 88 FUEL PUMP removal

Greetings all - it's been a while!,

........1988 vette...going to replace my fuel pump and remember reading somewhere here about removing/bypassing the "damper/pulsator"(?) on the fuel pump assembly but, was unable to find it in "search".

........Have had my assembly out 2-3 times in the past and there appears to be "that oblong object" down the pipes...If i recall correctly, was it not to "smooth out" the fuel pulsations or "quiet the lines" during fuel delivery?

......How is it removed or bypassed AND, what, if any benefit to removing it?...Symptoms if bad?

You can replace it with high pressure fuel line hose. I left mine in place.

Thanks for the reply, HOWEVER, were you unable to answer the questions posted? (as follows);

[B] "was it not to "smooth out" the fuel pulsations or "quiet the lines" during fuel delivery?

"How is it removed or bypassed AND, what, if any, benefit to removing it?......Symptoms if bad?

ANswer to your question, yes it does reduce vibration and quiets the lines from making a humming noise that could be heard in the car. Another long term benefit is that by smoothing out the vibration of the pump it will extend the life of the pump.

......thanks for the reply!
...ahhh, a well thought out, lucid, and well organized reply

.....Is the pulsator/dampener just merely bypassed with a fuel line?....Thanks again.

Yes, but it was not well thought out or lucid enough.
