Ok, where does everybody mount there arming switch, bottle heater button, and purge button?
I did manage to find a way to mount my nitrous pushbutton on my steeringwheel. But I'm not sure where to mount the other things.
TTT...I finally got some pics(I hope they work)
EEEERRRRRRRRRR....nevermind they won't work

I followed the same basic pattern as the prefab one above. I just made mine from a 10 gauge steel sheet from Home Depot. used a drill bit to make the holes for the switches and powder coated the steel before finish assembly.
I have also had them mounted visibly in the center radio trim, but moved them to a hidden location inside the center console, but it was too difficult to arm/disarm in a hurry.
I tried my cup holder but it didn't seem to want to fit the the wires and stuff so I put mine switches in the center console just to the left of the trunk release in the coin slots. The big ligh up flip switches are mounted on a 45* angle and seem to do just fine. I'll see if I can borrow a camera and get a picture. But I also don't have the selective ride control so it makes it a bit easier.
I moved mine from that same location to the cup holder because I wanted to be able to switch it on and off without having to open the whole console door. I usually put my timeslips in the console and it tends to blow around and get in the way if I have the widows down. It is not real easy to shut off quickly either. Really depends on how much and where you use it too. Getting to the center console wearing a 5-point harness can be fun in itself. Much quicker to arm it in the cup holder. ;)

Arming the system also involves turning on the bottle for me so I don't need to worry about an extra second getting it ready. I'm not using a WOT switch I'm actually using a pushbutton on the steering wheel so I put the system on before I do a run...or race which ever the case may be.

That's a good way to grenade your top end if you activate the juice at part throttle or let off the throttle before letting off the juice. Install a throttle microswitch before you hurt something.

The only time the system is on is when I'm racing, street or strip, and there's no way that I'd ever use part throttle on anything, I've just have to make sure that I let off of the nitrous before or at the same time as the throttle once the race is over.
And if I do hurt something then I have an excuse to build my 396 :D
I just did something similar ot the cup holder setup, but with a major modification. I gutted the cup holders and made an "L" shaped cover to replace the single flip over cover. When one side is exposed, it shows an autometer clock that matches my gauges and a Corvette emblem. When it is flipped over, it reveals 6 lighted switches that control various things such as the nitrous, fire suppression, line lock, etc.
I had an entire brushed aluminum dash made for this '85. It looks pretty sweet with the autometer ultra-lite gauges in it. When I get some pics, I'll put em up for you to see. If you can live without a cup holder, this is a tight little setup.
Is this a part that can be purchased or did you fabricate it?
Looks great! I want one.. :D
That is the switch plate that comes with the N.O.S. kit for the ZR-1. I believe you can buy it seperately from N.O.S.or you can fab it yourself like Vette92.
I took my ashtray to a car stereo installer and they cut the pattern in black plastic with a grain pattern on the top. I then put in a small toggle switch for arming, one screw in the center and covered the screw with the Nos badge. It turned out looking great. I am putting a pencil tip red light at the bottom of the switch to indicate on. For the heater switch I am just installing on the botttle holder. Thank god for nitrious and Mustangs..
is it possible to install those switches on the steering wheel? I.e. the L98 car w/o the air bag/big steering wheel?
You can mount on the steering wheel but you would have to do some modifying. Relocate your horn button and place a switch on the steering wheel. Route it into the center cap of the wheel (hide it of course) and use the stock wire running down the steering shaft.
Air bag cars are a little more fortunate. You can disable the airbag, use one of the horn buttons as nitrous engage and the other as a horn!
