Smog Pump removal
I was wondering if anyone could throw out a list of tools I'll need to replace a smog pump on an 87.Reason being I'm putting a new one on a friends vette and he dosen't have any tools at his house so I'll have to pack the neccessary tools with me for the job.Thanks.

you dont need anything but simple hand tools.....sorry i dont remember the exact sizes, but a good socket set, and an open end box wrench set and a breaker bar for those pesky hard bolts and you should be set.

Don't forget a 1/2" breaker bar to release the tension on the idler pulley to remove the serpentine belt and if I remember correctly all the bolts are metric.

You will have to pull the alternator off first.
The smog pump is held on by three 9/16" bolts, and also a brace that goes to the intake manifold. I beleive that is also 9/16" (not positive).
The alternator should need a 10mm socket for the wire connection, and I think the other 2 bolts holding it on are 9/16" too.
I think 9/16" is also 13mm.
