Default Wheel chroming

I have a set of O.Z. whell that are curbed. I am taking them to get fixing tommrow and they are painted silverf right now the guy at the place said for a extra 150 a wheel he will chrome them. DO you think they will look good? Will the chrome stick to the wheel after its been painted before?

They will look good chrome sure but they will look equally good high polished. The chrome plating will stick because they will be chemically stripped and first plated with copper then chrome for best adheasion. But the big drawback to chrome is if a crack starts it will rust from behind and look worse as it spreads and curb rash will basically ruin them. If you get them polished, its cheaper, they can be sanded and buffed if damaged and the upkeep is about the same plus high polished reflects like chrome its often tuff to tell em apart. I was gonna plate my 90 wheels i had on the 84 but the metal guy told me what im tellin you.

Bare aluminum wheels can be chrome plated by the ion plating method and they will never corrode behind the chrome, but this is a very expensive process .
