My sons 95 6 speed has yet a new issue... With the lights on I was following him the other day and noticed his lights pulsate. I see the dash lights and pretty much every bulb inside or outside the car does this. When driving along, it will do it , then it stops for a bit, then it happens again.
Alternator is fairly new, replaced within the last 18 months. The same for the battery.... its a little newer than the alternator. The starter is about 6 months old.
We pulled the battery out and looked at the connections, both were in good shape and still had dielectric grease on them. The fuse block behind the battery has 4 positive connections which also looked fine. We took them loose and found they were tight and no corrosion was present.
Any ideas on what to look at next? The car fires up instantly and everything works, just the pulsating that seems to be the issue.
The voltage regulator inside the alternator is oscillating which makes the lights pulse. You can prove this by unplugging the alternator and see the pulsing stop. The voltage regulator is replaceable.
Where can u buy just the regulator, my car is going the same thing but it is spiking to 17 volts then runs somewhat normally after warming up, 93 auto if it matters.
