Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)

96LT1 auto

What is involved with changing the ECT?

My digital readings have been higher than 'normal'. Fans still come on, but I've noticed over the past 2 weeks that driving around town, the temperature levels out at about 205-208. No codes or warning lights.

Maybe the thermostat needs replacing?

another thing I noted...about 30 minutes the temp seem to settle down. I also noted that when the analog pointer is at 185 (mid level) the digital reads about 20 degrees higher..

maybe the thermostat is slow to open
