Default Front Bumper Alignment

How do the shims go between the frame and the impact bar?

There are the plate shims and the circular washers. I pulled some shims from a parts car and they had circular washers on the top two studs and none on the bottom. Is this correct? Do I only use the plate shims? The FSM is unclear. Looking to hear from people who have done this before. Thanks

Doesn't matter which you use. You just need to look at the space between the hood and front bumper (along the top edge).

Check from hood clearance as the hood is opened. Make it as small as possible w/o the hood touching the front bumper as it's opened.

IIRC, on mine I used 4 shims per side (to hang the front bumper).

I assume that's what you're talking about.

Align hood to doors next.

Then up/down at the front hinge.

I recommend doing all this w/o pins for hood latch installed. Do that alignment very last! Don't risk a stuck hood!!!

I agree with Gregg. One thing is to make sure the gap is not too small. It can clear the hood, but when that this support plate at the rear of the bumper held on by the tiny 7mm screws is in place, the screwheads will tear into the hood if there is not enough clearance (been there, done that with a newly painted car.)
