Default LOWERING KIT

I ordered the lowering kit-is it easy and if so how do I do it ? :yesnod:

The back is easy, the front will take some time. Mid America home page has directions. I would also advise having a GM service manuale handy. You have to remove the front spring which can be difficult if you haven't done that before.

I did mine about 3 weeks ago but i haven't updated my sig pic yet. Just had it alligned last Saturday. Just be careful cutting the spring retainer brackets down (don't take to much off like i did :mad )

I just ordered my rear bolt kit(poly cushions) yesterday, I decided not to use the wedges because I wanted it lower in the front(but I have heavier springs going in at the same time). Front requires mucho disassembly, rear is cake. Do a search in this section (archives) using "lowering", lots of good info.

I had my mechanic do mine. Like stated already, rear is easy, front is a PITA.:)

You have to use the wedges or something like them. I just don't see the reason for having a fiberglass spring resting on a solid metal frame area and not expect some abrasion to occur. Asking for trouble IMO. I used the kit and the front is a total PITA for sure. Measure ride height at all four corners just for reference. :seeya

I plan on leaving approximately 1/8" of the rubber bumper intact to keep it off the frame. I thought on this before going this route because I didn't want the glass spring on the frame either. I figure the rubber was good enough for GM to use at 1" or more, it'll be good enough down to 1/8." The only difference will be that it won't have the metal cap on the rubber anymore. :cheers:

It was a PITA to get the rubber off all the way down to the spring. I'm sure it will be a lot more difficult only taking some of it off

I figure it's gonna be tough keeping the rubber pads even but shouldn't be too hard. I've got the spring that I'm going to use sitting in the corner of the living room as we speak:D so I can take my time on it. I think I can even salvage the metal plate on top of the pad if I try really hard. Now if I were to be in a hurry with the install(with the car torn apart) it would probably be a PITA. Things always seem to get more hectic in the middle of an install when you have to wait on one thing to do the next. :cheers:
