Default scratching my head

Ok guys hope you can help with this one. I have a 87 vette coupe and I went out to the garage to start her up and nothing, wtf.

When i put in the key i hear the fuel pump prime and when i turn the key the starter turns but will not start up. I drained the battery trying to start the car I charged it last night. went out this morning and car turns over but wont start.

I took out a plug and checked for spark and yes i have spark.

this is really stumping me because the car ran the other day and started rite up fine ran it for about 15 min and put her back in the garage. . .

Knee jerk reaction is injectors not firing. I suggest two quick tests: first check fuel pressure at the rail. You could have a filter or line plugged. Second use a noid light to see if the injectors are actually firing. Auto Zone has noid lights you can borrow. You did not say if you pulled a plug to see if they were wet. It is possible you have a serious flood condition but I doubt it. Last you really need to get a copy of the FSM. It will guide you through all the steps to pin down a problem.

................... Clean the "pill " contacts on the key , and jiggle it in the cylinder ... its likely a VATS issue ........ although you say it is cranking ... could be a fuel pressure regulator diaphragm if its flooding .....

Default no fuel ! ??

ok so i tried to start the car today and it still would not start. when i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump kick on but when i try to release pressure on the fuel rail i get nothing out of it. what can you guys add to this. what do you think it is ?

p.s. the gas gauge shows almost 1/2 and i did add a couple gallons of fuel from a jug just to make sure i have fuel...

Sounds like the fuel pump or filter on pump{in tank ] blocked you need a fuel pressure test gauge to hook to the fuel rail, no pressure but you hear pump run start with pump.
Hope this helps

Did you change the one in the fuel tank? looks like a screen or the one on the frame.I have had the ones in the tank fold up and block pump from sucking.

I hope you used submersible fuel line, and not just regular. If not, you'll be doing this again in a few months if not sooner.

You need Gates 27093. It comes in 1 foot lengths. If you can get it for less than $20 you're doing well. I paid $26 a few years ago.
