Default Need Tips for '89 Vette

I recently acquired a totally stock '89 corvette convertible, and I'm looking to do some modifications on it. I want to spend about $5,000 on it at most, preferably less - does anyone have any tips on what I should do?

Also, what are you personal preferences of exhaust? Judging from youtube videos with crappy quality, Borla Stingers are my favorite sound at the moment

If it were me I'd leave it pretty much all stock for now - drive it until you start to have problems with it. If you must do modding do a full exhaust from head's to tips as this will be your best bang for the buck.

At first i assumed you were talking about exhaust tips, lol. I was gonna say, they're a hell of a lot less than 5k.

If the car is new to you, I'd replace the coolant, serp belt, oil, trans oil and gear oil. Drive it a bit and find the quirks out. My first mod to my 91' (picked it up 3 weeks ago) is a full exhaust. Borla's always a good route to go. They sound mean as hell with a cam.

What are your goals? 5k can get you a built motor, a new paintjob, or a completely new interior.

Id google TPIS.
Add lower gears like a 3.40 or 3.73.
L98 get a bad wrap but they can run if you do your home work.
I've seen stock appearing l98's with no power adders run 12's.
And thats without a super ram.

sorry the air cleaner housing can be opened up to allow more air wich can be done easy and free along with theres a small coolent hose that goes threw the throttle body by pass the throttle body and yes a air foil it does help the throttle response no big hp gains but cheap if u take the upper plenum off there are two bumps near the throttle body remove them with only cost there are intake gaskets and porting bits
1.6 rocker arms increase the cam lift about .30 wich rocker arms range in price proforms will clear 87 up valve covers if you go that route you need to upgrade the valve springs and put new seals in it exhaust helps a lower gear ratio is a big plus thats a few more dollars but worth it
no offence takn i was just tryn to make a short post
