Default Where is this gas coming from????

I am in the middle of a fuel injuctor change and can't seem to get the gas to stop running out of the fuel line at the front of the fuel rail. I relieved the pressure just as the repair manual said but it just keeps coming. I even disconnected the line at the fuel filter and it just keeps running. And to make matters worse, I have a desperate urged to kill the GM Engineer that decided to hide all the bolts and make them hard to get to. I also found a T-40 bolt with a stripped out head that a previous owner left for me. Guess I'll be drilling that out tomorrow. Does anybody have any idea where this gas is coming from and what I can do to stop it? Someone has to have had this problem too. Come on guys, I really need you now!!!!!! :nonod: :nonod:

Is it also running out of the fuel filter? If it is you have a siphon from the tank (although the rail is above the tank so it should no longer come out there???) Disconnect the fuel lines at the tank. If it is not running out the filter then it can't be coming from the supply line. The only fuel left is in the return line which you could disconnect at the tank and the rail which only holds a couple of ounces.

I was gonna say make sure you have the gas cap off, but you probably already did that. also you could pull the pump fuse and run the system out of gas.

I dumped so much fuel down the front of my motor that I finally got some gas line tubing and two hose clamps. I forced the tubing over the two ends of the fuel lines near the fuel rail. That finally stopped it but the front of my L98 realy shines now.

Yeah, it is coming out of the filter so I guess I'll have to disconnect the line at the tank. It was getting pretty frustrating laying in a pool of gas trying to get it to stop. Thanks

Gas cap is off and I pulled the fuse and ran the car til it died. After it died, I cranked it over a few times to make sure there was no pressure left. Thanks for the help. :seeya

I guess I won't have to detail the front of my engine now, I did the same thing. Nice smell in the garage and it cleaned up a few oil spot in the process. If and when I ever get this thing off, I might just go for broke and throw a mini-ram at it. I'm getting tired of mustangs with hood scoops and tach lights brighter than the stop lights beating me. Looks like Mr.Visa will be getting some exercise soon.

Put rubber vacuum port covers over the fuel lines or they could start spilling again.

I got everything all fixed. It turned out it was coming back through the return line so I just disconnected it from the fuel tank and that solved it all. But thanks anyway
