Default Headlight Mounting Arm ???? Part question

My 1988 convertible has a broken right (Pass) headlight mounting arm. I picked up a c4 headlight assy that had no motor (and some broken plastic on the tub), but repairable, A good arm.

BUT -- My motor does not fit on the replacement arm.

Damaged arm on car --- 16509994

Replacement Arm ------ 16503956

The arms differ in the area of the headlight motor mounting. Two hole vs three hole. (--9994 has three) (--3956 has two) A mounting hole and threaded boss is not in the 3956 arm I got.

The mounting area on the arm for the motor has a U channel entire on one side, that is "not present" on my broken arm.

There is a mounting boss that is raised about 1/4 inch on one arm, only 1/16 on the other.

I thought I did good on finding this part, and I can "make it fit", but would prefer to swap or trade for the "right" arm and keep this one intact.

Before I go about trying to swap, can anyone explain to me why the arms have these differences? I'd hate to search again to get one and end up with the wrong part again! (Cleaned and painted it too!)
