Has anyone used one. I would like to lower the shift points on my trans when I'm spraying nitrous at the track. Can you do this? What other cool stuff if any will it do. Am I better off getting the LT1 edit program and do it myself?
Thanks alot.
Re: Is the Hypertech Power Programmer worth a crap? (honas)
I think it depends on how proficient you are w/computers... I am a dork  so I got the Hypertech....1st it DID NOT give me a big KICK IN THE A** performance increase, however I was able to make many changes that make my car more to my liking..
I adjusted the speedo to correct for my 3.73 gear, I changed the fan temp, I firmed up the shift points, & was also able to adjust the speed that it shifted from 1st to 2nd & from 2nd to 3rd. gear.
I think you can do a lot more with the GM Edit, but I don't know how toy use it..
Re: Is the Hypertech Power Programmer worth a crap? (honas)
I didn't like the HTPP when I connected it to my LT4, it gave no performance increase. It was "nice" that I could edit a couple things such as fan timing and adjust the speedo for the 4:10 gears, but for the price they are asking you might as well send the computer out and have it done professionaly...they might be able to give you some performance increase as well.
Re: Is the Hypertech Power Programmer worth a crap? (honas)
I could not have done what I did with out it. 4.54 gears are not in it's program! So I changed the tire size to correct my Speedo and checked it with my Hand held GPS. Changed my shift points and rev limiter at the track using 1/4 mile time to verify adjustments.I 'm glad I bought mine well worth the $$$$
Re: Is the Hypertech Power Programmer worth a crap? (honas)
I think it depends on what you want to do and what you expect.
IF you expect to gain performance and horsepower...it won't happen. One of our members (Duntov) bought one and did back-to-back dyno runs (with cool-down between the runs....all together about 20 minutes apart) and lost horsepower & torque across the board. He got his money back.
If you want it to change shift points, cooling fans, etc...I don't think it is worth the dollars they ask for it, but that is for you to decide.
