Flywheel turning tool : i just look it up on gooogle. this tool need someone to be holding the tool. also the car need to be off the ground.
kind of complicated
I've had my balancer off and on a zillion times and do all my work myself. You can use the tool with the handle braced against the ground. Not a biggie. The car obviously has to be on jackstands.
I used a homemade holding tool since the dual mass LT4 flywheel had too much 'give'. I used a U clamp bracket that holds two entertainment center pieces together (slid over ends at top). I bolted a piece of square tube aluminum to it at 90 degrees and then placed it against the teeth and used a block of wood jammed into the opening to force it against the FW. Worked like a charm. I had no extra pair of hands since people seem to scatter when I work in my garage.
I was reading not too long ago about 'centering' the new seal (you are replacing the seal, right???) by leaving the cam cover loose while you install the new balancer into the seal...Sounded like a good idea...If you have the cam cover off...Which is a good time to check the timing gears & chain...And replace that old water pump...
