Default Siamesing a crossfire intake

I just had a thought. So far the TPI folks have had great sucess in siamesing the intake on their cars. Since the crossfire intake flows so poorly, I wonder if similar efforts would be beneficial?

Crossfire intake flow problems are due to the mismatch intake manifold to head intake ports. I read that more than 1/3 flow is block by this miss match. I am sure some of the Crossfire owners can chime in with more info.

You can gain 10-15cfm per port by port matching the intake to the head port.

Another factor that may be important is that the X-fire is a wet inake, whereas the TPI is a dry intake.

There is some material that can be removed from an X-fire intake. I know the CFI vault had some good instructions on how to cut and polish the intake base. It still has limitations but does get the cars running respectably with a few other good mods. :smash:

Dom,

Could you elaborate on the shorthand specs? The numbers you're quoting are right in the neighborhood of what I'd like from my X-fire. Thanks.

Nick:

Thanks for the link. I'm getting ready to port & polish my spare intake. This info will be helpful.

My heavily ported intake gave me a half second, plus, in the 1/4.
