Windshield Washer Fluid
Last year I noticed my windshield washer fluid froze solid. Temps. never got below 0 degrees F. So I figured I would replace it with new fluid. Worried about cracking the resevoir, I bought an Anti-Freeze tester and tested the old and new fluid. Both did not register at all. It was supposed to read -20 degrees F but it did not register. My question....Does an Anti Freeze tester work for windshield washer fluid ?

Windshield washer fluid uses methenol to prevent freezing, and anti-freeze uses glycol I believe. So no, the antifreeze tests will not work on it. Why bother testing it? Just dump it all out and replace. I have heard that the washer fluid that Ace Hardware carries has the largest precent of methanol over other brands - by folks that use it for meth injection.
