The stock distributor is a "Delco Remy"...And just for your information, you might as well keep using the stock unit because I just bought a new "Douglas Unified Ignition" (DUI) High Performance racing distributor and guess what brand name is stamped on the casing....Delco Remy.....They just put there own coil and ICM into it, charge $319.00, and its a High Performance unit.....Yea, Right.....WW

...Better to get the DUI cap and module and add it to your Delco unit. I got lucky and scored an almost new DUI unit for $30
chevys hei is the best thing that ever happened to an engine, for a stock setup , its perfect. for mildly altered , with a few upgrades, its still the best, thats why DUI and others put them in everything from toyota's to fords, they are reliable to a fault. I installed one of DUI's setups in my ford tow truck when I got tired of fords ign. module. you can even take a chevy ign module , fasten it to a fender with a zip tie and with grease under it , run wires to it, and run any vehicle that has a ign module style setup and a bunch that dont. it eliminates needing a resistor , either ballast or wire. I did that on my tow truck also. hope this helps
