1986 Corvette Ignition Module
Hey guys...
Anyone know offhand if an '86 ignition module is 4 pin or 7 pin?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Any idea when it changed from the 4-pin design? "Transitional" stuff seems to follow me wherever I go, and my 1986 was manufactured 10/85 if I remember correctly.

Four terminal modules are for HEI distributors. Seven terminal modules are for EST (electronic spark timing, ie: computer controlled) distributors.
EST distributors became common in 1981.

Ah, that makes sense! I should have remembered that from my ole' Z-28, but that was a long time ago!
Thanks for the reply!

Or, buy a $15 distributor at any junkyard and dig out the module. Just check the printed number on your module (IIRC, either 322 or 990) and look for the same number under the cap of the junkyard distributor before you pay your money.
