To transplant a 87 L-98 into a 93? I know it will fit. But what is the difference in the engine monitoring? Where could I go for help sorting the electronics for the ECM.

I have a built L-98 plus a T-56 for my 87 vert but it needs paint and an interior and i can buy a 93 coupe minus the drivetrain. It has a good interior and paint. I'm thinking that I will part my 87 vert and use the money to install the L-98 and T-56 in the 93 body.

Would probably need the computer and wiring swapped if not modified pretty extensively . Not sure if that is worth it so I'd look aftermarket. Fast, xfi, or the ls retrofit setup. All would set you nicely for an ls motor with that t56 in the future. Definitely not a downgrade or degrading to the vehicle, do it!

One thing for sure, ok two things. At the very least the 87 harness goes into the firewall and hooks up to the ECM in the dash. The 93 harness goes into the firewall and plugs into the dash harness, while another section of the harness goes to the left side for the ECM under the hood. The 93 Dash harness is way more complicated. Second you'll need LT1, LT4 or LT5 K-members for the sub frame as the L98 used traditional motor mounts whereas the LT1 mounts have vertical screws hanging out that plug into a hole in the top of the K members and one nut in each side bolts them in.

It should not be hard to get the stock computer to work with the TPI engine. A similar computer was used on the 1990 and 1991 TPI engine and as far as I can tell the only hurdle to making it work is to get the small cap distributer to work in place of the OPTI spark.
