Default cam advice, what will this one do?

Fellow forum member is offering me a cam that he has for a good price.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-08-501-8?part=CCA%2D08%2D501%2D8&autoview=sku

My engine right now is an '89 L98 with high flow manifold, large runners, and ported plenum. Have few other dinky things like all egr elim, ligenfelter long tubes, air pump delete, cut airbox, and better ignition, but basically still stock long block.

I really don't understand cam specs and how they relate to engine setup so I wonder will this work and how will it affect my setup?

I do about 6 autocross events a year so I really need to hold on to as much low end torque I can, I frequently get to 2k rpm in tight turns in 2nd. I also do about 3 track days a year so top end is a appriciated, but not necessary as my oil temps sky rocket if I am shiftting at 5200 rpm all the time.

So any info on what it might do and if I can keep all my stock valvetrain or should I get new lifters/springs/rockers. I do know I will need a tune and have the harware for it.

The cam should work fine for a long runner stock engine. I would look for a cam with more lift or at least run 1.6 rockers (in either case you will have to change valve springs and check for retainer to guide contact).

It should be good, but be careful with more lift. the stock 113 aluminum heads can only take .525 lift before hitting the guides.
