Of course the lift is increased by 6.7%. This essentially moves the valve lift at .050" out about 1deg on each side for a 2deg increase in duration at .050". If you know your cam profile around .050" you can plot the exact amount of duration increase at .050".
More importantly it moves the duration out more and increases lift in the critical range between .200"; this is where most of the filling/emptying occurs, right.

Thanks, Jim. The other reason I went with 1.6s was moreso that it causes the valves to open and close faster allow more fill/empty time.
Very cool. These are the types of mods im hoping to do im the near future as soon as I can save up the $ im glad to hear that it sounds like they all work well together.

Re: New Mod installed - Nice gains (Vic'89)
Vic I take my hat off to you, those times are amazing!!! I have pretty much done all of the same mods as you except the TB bypass, runners and base. I also have a Craig Marcho chip and 3.73 gears (which I believe are hurting my times.)
As soon as I get my pulleys in I'm heading to the track to work on my times.
Last year I ran a best of 14.2 at 96 MPH (I believe), but that was without the Airpump eliminator, pulleys, chip, 160 stat, TB bypass.
It was my first time ever racing at a track and from what I was told the conditions were terrible.
I'm looking forward getting back out there and learning how to drive this thing.
Mr. Magoo
The 3.73's might not be the best mod for the L98, I still have 3.07's and will never change them. Also, the TPI mods give very small gains, but you have to add up 7 or 8 mods to get a nice ET.
I have tested each mod by itself (look at signature) and the biggest single gain was from the TPIS catback and that was 3 tenths.
Irocan
The stall on my convertor is about 2500 rpms. It is a 12" GM convertor. The TPI motors don't need a big stall.

Re: New Mod installed - Nice gains (Vic'89)
I looked at your sig Vic and It always brings a smile to my face. :) The fact that you have run in the 12's only makes me want to practice, practice, practice..........................kind of like a goal I have set for myself. :)
Here are my mods of late in my '86 coupe/aluminum head:
Flowmaster mufflers
Walker Y pipe
Random Tech Cat
3:73 gears
Craig Marco chip
160 Stat
Ported MAF
March Pulleys
Air Pump Eliminator
K&N
Open air lid
TB bypass (within the next week)
I'm hoping for at least a mid 13 ET. I know the 3:73 are hurting me but they were free and I love them way better than the stock 2:59's I once had.
Congrats! These are definitely the footsteps I will be following... I'm getting my new seats this week, then fuel injectors after that - and then I'm about ready...
What's the difference between the AS&M runners and the Accel/LPE runners? I just got my car back with the SuperRam (base, plenum, runners) but have yet to track test it on the new setup. Definitely a great SOTP feel. I'm not so sure that I'm getting enough air to it with the stock TB/MAF.
Hi Vic,
Your car is definitelly the fastest L98 that I've ever seen. Also your 1.7 60Ft. was not bad either :D. Congratullations on your runs and it was very nice to meet you

If you add headers, sticky tires and a converter, that car should be very quick. You have MORE mods than I do, and I am pulling low 13's and I don't think El Destructo is done yet. Vic's car really demosntrates what can be done with a stock longblock.
I'm surpised you don't have headers. I did a few things at once (gears, headers, exhaust,DR's, converter) so its hard to tell what ET gain is attributed to only the headers but rolling, it has a lot more power.
My exhaust was $1,000, my used D-44 was $440, new Spicer U-joints were $120, the used DR's and wheels were $250 and my Raptor 2,600 stall was $150. So dollarwise, I'm only about $100 behind but still 4/10's behind.:(
